FOLLOW THE BEAT OF THE DRUM TO CALA BENIRRÁS
On a Wednesday afternoon, we followed the beat of the drum on our ebikes all the way to Cala Benirrás…
We began our thrilling ebike journey from Hasha Ibiza situated in Santa Eularia, Ibiza. There we set out along the tranquil, winding country roads and tracks with the faint smells of crops, herbs and trees soothing our senses. It was almost meditative as the time seemed to meander by and stop altogether as we began our descent to Benirras beach. The historical curving road was encompassed by proud trees and fluttering woodland that seemed to whisper of the awe to behold us when we finally reached the charming cove. Upon our arrival, we were just able to take in the beautiful sights of clear seas, skies and impressive hills and cliffs bordering the beach.
There along this magnificent landmark, we found ourselves wholly relieved to be met with a cluster of restaurants and bar areas wherein we received ice cold refreshments. Small groves of fisherman's huts overlooked the serene and glistening Mediterranean sea as people relaxed in and around the area. There is also a hippy market open on a select few days that offer an array of handicrafts and other handmade items crafted to draw you back to the day you beheld the wondrous sights of Benirras. The sight is again another spot that is a must see for all those in search for a place that you will be sure never to forget; particularly as the sun begins to sink down the sky and the tone of the beach shifts..
We sat atop a blanket and stared ahead at the sun as it warmed and bled across the sky, shifting into a gorgeous glowing mass that made the ocean glisten in response. There we began to hear the drum beating a steady and compelling rhythm that thrummed against our senses and synched with the descent of the sun. This hippie ritual and tradition passed down through the decades is one that brings people together to dance in the sunset or simply enjoy the lively but languid atmosphere. A pizza from the nearby restaurant was shared between us on the beach and we enjoyed our surroundings as we ate, drinking in the stunning views of the famous islet, known as dedo de Dios (finger of God).
Such a destination is one that'll have you rooted to the spot more than once, and without a doubt worth visiting; especially by renting a bike from Hasha Ibiza for a more immersive experience..
